Trauma-Focused Therapy

Reclaiming safety, trust, and connection.

Even the parts of you shaped by pain carry the wisdom of survival.

Understanding Trauma

After a traumatic experience, it is common to feel like life has split into “before” and “after.” You might notice yourself feeling constantly on edge, easily startled, or emotionally numb. Perhaps you replay what happened in your mind, or find yourself avoiding reminders altogether. Sleep may be disrupted. Relationships might feel harder to maintain. Or maybe you just sense that something changed inside you, and you cannot quite return to the person you were before.

Trauma can leave us feeling trapped in survival mode. But healing does not mean forgetting what happened. It means helping your mind and body learn that the danger has passed.

The Path to Healing

You have likely already done so much to survive. Seeking therapy is a continuation of that strength. It is an acknowledgment that you deserve more than just “getting by.”

In trauma-focused therapy, we work together to help you process painful experiences safely, restore a sense of agency, and reconnect with the parts of you that long for peace and wholeness. Healing is not about erasing your past; it is about reclaiming your future.

Therapeutic Approach

I draw from evidence-based trauma therapies that are tailored to your unique needs and pace. These include:

  • Prolonged Exposure Therapy (PE): Helping you gradually face avoided memories and situations so they no longer control your life.

  • Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT): Unraveling painful beliefs about yourself and the world that trauma may have created.

  • Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR): A powerful, integrative approach that helps the brain reprocess traumatic memories so they can lose their emotional charge and integrate naturally.

Each of these modalities offers a structured, compassionate path toward freedom from trauma’s grip. You do not have to choose one before we begin. Our work will evolve based on what feels right for you.

A Trauma-Informed Space

Healing requires safety, respect, and choice. In our sessions, you set the pace. My role is to guide, support, and empower you, offering structure when you need it and space when you do not.

Together, we will help your nervous system remember what calm feels like, so that living no longer feels like surviving.
